Gujarat decided to build a special memorial park called Sindoor Forest on the Indian-Pakistani border in Kutch to honor the bravery of Indian forces during the Sindoor operation. The memorial will be developed over 8 hectares of forest soil on the Bhuj-Mandvi road near Mirzapar Highway.
There will be about 12,000 plants in the park, of which 551 sindoor trees (Vermilion), symbolizing courage and victim. It is planned to plant 10,000 trees per hectare, making it one of the densest green spaces in Bhuj. The forest will also include 35 different types of trees, including medicinal plants suitable for local climate.
Part of the park will also remember the victims of the terrorist attack of Pahalgam 22 April, in which three of the 26 people who died were from Gujarat.
According to Minister of Forest Mulubhai Bera, this project will honor the unity of the Army, Air Force, BSF and civilians during the Sindoor operation. The forest will also have murals on the walls, reflecting the theme of patriotism and victims.
The location is also important
it is the same place where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the public gathering on May 26 during his first visit to Gujarat after the Sindoor operation. During this event, the Madhapar woman gave the PM plant the Sindoor plant and remembered their brave role in repairing the BHUJ Air Base runway for 72 hours during the 1971 war.
Working on the Park has already begun and is expected to be completed in about 1.5 years. As soon as it is ready, Sindoor Forest will stand as a symbol of Indian military pride, community effort and environmental awareness.
